IMF's new Debt Entrapment policy

You know, one of the things that the IMF has been encouraging governments in the developing world to do, since COVID is to spend more on their populations in more or less relief packages for the people who have lost their jobs because of COVID lockdowns or whose businesses have shut down because of the, you know, global economic disaster that was caused by the response to COVID. Now this isn't something that we're used to hearing from the IMF. Normally, want people to they want governments to shut down government programs. They want to limit the extent to which governments provide support for the poor and for the jobless and so on. But in this case, they are strongly encouraging governments across the global South.

Interestingly, they're not really advising this for the western governments. But in the global South, they're encouraging governments to spend more to maybe implement universal basic income type programs, financial aid to families, and this sort of thing. One, because they don't want them to work. They want the largest players in the market to increase the market share so small companies and medium sized companies can stay out of business and, the market share can be taken over by larger already existing corporations. The other reason is quite simply because spending that kind of money on social programs, on universal basic income, on welfare, and these types of things is gonna bankrupt these governments, which will then send them directly to the IMF to enter into debt slavery agreements that will go for decades.

They sound very good. It's very enticing. It's very attractive to think, oh, it's nice, the government helping the poor, helping the jobless, handing out money. It's very nice. It sounds great.

Oh, we don't have to work. We can just get a salary from the government. That's going to bankrupt your government. And then your government won't be your government anymore. Your government will be the board of the IMF.

So keep an eye out for these kinds of policies.
