US Tiktok ban?
So the US Senate, house passed, a bill, I guess, that would potentially give Joe Biden the authority to ban TikTok in The United States. Now it hasn't become official. He hasn't has to go to the congress, but I, for one, hope he does it. I hope they pass it, and I hope he bans TikTok in The United States. I mean, don't get me wrong.
I think there are plenty of American TikTokers who are putting useful content on this platform. That's the downside of America banning TikTok. But the the upside, maybe TikTok's not gonna be so woke anymore. I like the idea of TikTok being more a social media platform for the global south. Maybe we won't see predators like Jeffrey Marsh on this app anymore.
And if a Muslim wants to talk about LGBT issues, maybe their video is not gonna get removed because it's Americans generally who are gonna be complaining about these things. It's Americans who are super woke and snowflake and triggered all the time by everyone else's opinion who disagrees with them. Also, it will just increase the completely insular perspective that Americans have because they're completely clueless about what the rest of the world thinks. And it doesn't help for them, to be honest. It doesn't help for them to be exposed to what the rest of the world thinks because their mindset is such that if they find that the rest of the world disagrees with them, it just confirms to them that the rest of the world is is crazy and stupid and backwards and doesn't know anything, and we have to educate them.
So then they use their content to inject American standards, American priorities, American cultural values onto the platform, and they're social media addicts. So they're putting out masses and masses of content, useless, misinformation, pointless, trivial, frivolous, whatever. I mean, for anyone who thinks that TikTok is still just dance videos and lip sync videos, you're wrong. This platform has developed very rapidly and very impressively. I mean, you've got 10 videos now.
You've got videos about economics. You've got videos about politics. You've got videos about current affairs. You have news. You have so many things that it's more useful to me than YouTube.
You have a lot of good Islamic content on this app. But the American presence on the app isn't particularly useful, to be honest. So I hope that they do. I hope they do ban. I hope they ban it in America.
I hope they ban TikTok in Canada. I hope they ban it in Europe, in England. You know? Really, I think it's a nice idea if TikTok can become more a platform for the global South. People who care about the global South, people who live in the global South, we can talk to each other on the same wavelength and not have to worry about interlopers coming in with their values that don't align with the values of the majority of people on this planet, and then try to enforce their values through complaining about people's videos that disagree with them.
So I hope they do it. And I am sorry to all of the American TikTokers who do produce valuable worthwhile content. But those are my thoughts.
