Men and housework

Assalamu alaikum. I just wanna say something real quick about housework. Men should help out with housework. Sure. But women have to understand that this is men helping you with work that's important to you.

Most men with rare and strange exceptions were adult bachelors before they got married and they lived on their own. And if you've seen the homes where bachelors live, there's not a lot of housework going on. It's not something that's that important to men. The equivalent of housework for men is working on their cars, waxing their cars, polishing their cars, cleaning the tires, doing all of that kind of thing. Men don't ask women to help out with that.

Okay? That's work that's important to us. We don't expect you to share in that. Cleaning up the house is work that's important to you, so it's not really honest to pretend that women's housework is some service that they are providing to their husbands. This is work that you would be doing anyway if you were single.

Housework isn't work that most men would be doing if they were single. So when we are doing housework with you and sharing it with you, that's something that we're doing for you. So just keep that in mind.
